Cranes’ hunger for processing power is not easily sated, Inter Control electronic division sales manager Joachim Stratmann told Cranes Today. “Even seven to 10 standard control units are not enough. I see that two or three Digsy MTC units will satisfy crane manufacturers’ requirements,” he said.

The unit has up to four CAN-Bus interfaces, and can hold 32MB of RAM, and 1Gb of flash memory for data logging or other uses. Because the unit generates only 1 Watt of heat, it has a sealed housing.

With the MTC Vision expansion unit, the controller can run up to two displays at the same time. The company has also launched a range of slimline monitors from 6.4in to 12.1in to use with the system. “The electronics is all in the MTC – there is nothing else in it,” Stratmann said, except a hidden USB port for data logging.

In response to pressure to become a systems supplier, the company has launched its own CAN-Bus inclinometer, and also sells radio remote controls, boom length sensors, load cells and hook position switches made by other manufacturers
