Soon Douglas of Singapore has entered into a joint venture with Australian crane distributor Pace Cranes for the sale and service of Jaso tower cranes throughout Australia, writes Tod Kennedy.

Soon Douglas, with more than 20 years in the Asian crane business, has been successfully installing the Spanish-built Jaso tower cranes in the region along with the company’s range of onshore and offshore mobiles and marine lifting equipment.

Pace Cranes, which distributes a large range of cranes, including Linmac, Luna, Maeda and Valla, had by January already processed its second order for the Jaso model J 240 to clients in Sydney, Australia, where in recent years hammerhead cranes have started to break into a market traditionally held by luffing-type tower cranes.

According to Paul Heeks, director of Pace Cranes, there is an excellent future for the J 240 crane which has a lifting capacity of 2.5t at 70m.
