Kalmar Industries is restructuring from a company that manufactures container handling machinery to one that just assembles it. It has signed an agreement to sell its subsidiary Finmec, an Estonian company that specialises in the welding and provision of steel components, to Svets & Mekanogruppen AB of Sweden.
This sale follows other outsourcing deals. Svets & Mekanogruppen has already taken over Kalmar’s welding operation in Ljungby, Sweden. Kalmar has also sold its cabin manufacturing business Velsa to Rautaruukki Corporation in Finland. In the Netherlands, Nelcon’s port crane steel fabrication and assembly works in Rotterdam has been sold to Hollandia.
