Kalmar Industries has taken over ownership of the Dutch service and rental businesses Peinemann Kalmar CV and Peinemann Kalmar Rental BV from the rental group Peinemann.

Kalmar said that the acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, was in line with its strategy of boosting its direct involvement in sales and service.

Peinemann Kalmar CV and Peinemann Kalmar Rental BV will be renamed Kalmar Nederland and Kalmar Rental respectively and will continue to operate from the same location at Hoogvliet in the Port of Rotterdam. Kalmar Nederland will continue to focus on the sales and servicing of counterbalanced equipment and terminal tractors. Kalmar Rental BV will continue its rental and fleet management activities. Ad Kornet, managing director of both companies, keeps his job.

“Peinemann Kalmar has been a successful partner to Kalmar in the Netherlands. The commitment to good customer service shown by the company, as well as its long-standing experience in the rental business in this important market, have been major reasons in our taking this step. The acquisition also reflects our intention to become more directly involved in one of the world’s most active ports,” said Kalmar president and CEO Christer Granskog.
