Container handling specialist Kalmar has signed a contract to supply four 40t E-one rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs) for the Baltic Container Terminal (BCT), in Gdynia, Poland.
- Kalmar claims that the new E-one model is quieter than older RTGs.
- The E-One model features a diesel engine and is fitted with an electric wheel turner, trolley and spreader. Kalmar promises fuel savings of up to 30%.
The order is part of a $100m phased investment plan intended to increase BCT’s capacity. BCT is a subsidiary of Philippines-based International Container Terminal Services Inc.
Two units will be delivered in May 2006 with the second half of the order to be delivered a month later.
The cranes will be used for stack handling of containers.
