KCI Konecranes has been contracted to design and supply of two Post Panamax ship-to-shore (STS) container cranes for Baltic Container Terminal (BCT) in Gdynia, Poland. The cranes will be delivered before the end of 2006.
The order for the new STS container cranes follows extensive investments by BCT in new and upgraded yard equipment designed to raise the terminal’s annual throughput capacity to one million TEU (20t equivalent units) annually. This spring BCT took delivery of its second Panamax dimension STS crane from KCI Konecranes, which will raise BCT’s annual capacity to 600,000TEU/yr.
The new STS cranes have an outreach of 46m, a lifting capacity of 50t, a hoisting speed of 60/120m/min, and the trolley speed is 180m/min. They are equipped with Konecranes’ all ac electrical system and Crane Management System (CMS).
