KCI Konecranes has been contracted to design and supply two Post Panamax ship-to-shore (STS) container cranes for Baltic Container Terminal (BCT) in Gdynia, Poland. The cranes will be delivered before the end of 2006.

This follows a delivery last spring, when BCT took delivery of its second Panamax dimension STS crane from Konecranes, which will raise BCT’s annual capacity to 600,000 TEU (twenty foot equivalent units).

The new cranes have a wider outreach of 46m, enabling them to handle containers for Post Panamax size vessels.

The new cranes have a lifting capacity of 50t, a hoisting speed of 120m per minute, and a trolley speed of 180m per minute. They are equipped with Konecranes’ all ac electrical system, and crane management system as well as the DynaPilot sway control system, which Konecranes said provides greater accuracy in container handling.
