Asian Lift, which both rents and builds vessels, previously managed construction of the 3200t Asian Hercules II in Jambi, Indonesia, for Petrol China.
This latest vessel, the Asian Hercules III, will be worth $113.5 (S$143). It will carry a 5000t sheerleg crane. The vessel will be 106m long by 52m wide and the hook will reach 172m in height.
After delivery, Asian Hercules III will complete its first job in Singapore as part of its long term service for the oil and gas industry and other markets in Southeast Asia.
Mr John Chua, general manager of Asian Lift, said: “We believe that Asian Hercules III will play an important role in serving the industry where heavy lift activities are essential. Southeast Asia is an important market, especially with the high volume of offshore and marine projects being contracted here. With the weight of modules and other components increasing, Asian Hercules III will be well placed to meet the needs of the market for greater lifting capacity.
The vessel will be the largest in the Asian Lift’s fleet when it is launched in the third quarter of 2013.
