KIER Plant has bought the tower crane fleet of Taywood Plant for £2.4m ($3.6m). Kier takes ownership of a fleet of 28 cranes, mostly Liebherrs and in a variety of sizes, and ongoing contracts.

Both companies are subsidiaries of UK construction groups. Taywood Plant’s parent, Taylor Woodrow, has chosen to move away from directly owning its equipment, however, and instead rent it as required. In contrast Kier Group’s plant division has continued to gow its fleet which it runs as a rental business. Kier Plant now has about 90 tower cranes in its fleet, including those it has on lease from Arcomet of Belgium.
