Konecranes has completed statutory negotiations for job cuts in its heavy lifting business segment in Finland, which will see permanent personnel reductions totalling 41.

Further temporary layoffs are still being finalised and an additional 25 personnel are due to retire in the near future.

Products in the Konecranes Heavy Lifting Corporation portfolio include electric overhead travelling cranes for process industries, shipyard cranes, shipboard gantry cranes, grab unloaders, STS cranes, RTG and RMG cranes, straddle carriers, reachstackers, top lifters, empty container handlers, forklift trucks, the YardIT crane automation system, container positioning systems, crane control systems and heavy-duty crane components. Lifting capacities typically range from 50t up to 2,000t.

The news follows the completion of similar negotiations at Konecranes Service Corporation, which resulted in 10 permanent staff layoffs. Negotiations continue at Konecranes Standard Lifting Corporation.

Konecranes said it started negotiations at its three business areas in order to adjust the company’s cost structure and capacity to match the weaker market and secure future competitiveness.
