Heavy load moved over fragile ground belonging to Liebherr in Germany.

German logistics company Krebs Korrosionsschutz from Rostock has transported a conditioner weighing 108 tonnes. The upper and lower shells of the conditioner had been delivered from Poland to Krebs’s yard where the company used its crane fleet to attach the parts ready for transport.

A Krebs’s crane operator lifted the load and placed it onto a 12-axle Cometto self-propelled heavy load module. The electronically steered SPMT unit, with a 202 kW power pack, had been assembled beforehand and positioned in front of the loading place on schedule.

Once everything was ready the journey to the conditioner’s destination at Power Oil, a subsidiary of Getreide AG, began. Power Oil produces oils including colza oil for the manufacture of biodiesel and edible oils, which are produced in one of Germany's largest oil mills.

The first part of the SPMT's journey was on public roads. Along the way a grass verge belonging to Liebherr had to be traversed. In order to protect pipelines and cables in the ground, however, this grass verge could not be subjected to heavy loads.

Krebs was aware of this challenge in advance and had hired a drive-over system from freight forwarding service Kahl Schwerlast in advance.

The load reached its destination at Power Oil on time where a lifting frame lifted the conditioner into its final position.
