Australian inventor Ron Laczko has struck a deal with Potain under which the French tower crane manufacturer will distribute the Lasco portable crane.
The Lasco crane is designed to be carried up a building in sections via a goods lift and placed on a concrete slab to lift loads up to 10t (First Australian Lasco… Apr98, p11). It competes head on with the Herkules portable crane of Scan Tech of Thailand and Van der Spek of Belgium.
Scan Tech was originally Laczko’s dealer in Thailand but the relationship broke down.
Under the new deal, which represents a significant breakthrough for Laczko, Potain will sell the crane in its own colours all around the globe except in Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea, territories which Laczko will keep to himself.
