All seven of the crane’s axles are steered using a new speed-dependent rear-axle steering system. All axles are steered automatically up to 30km/hr (20mph), but locked straight at higher speeds. The system reduces tyre wear and helps improve control.

First shown at Bauma, the Liebherr 26 K.1 is a self-erecting tower crane with a multiple-section lattice mast and therefore variable hook height. Maximum load capacity is 2.5t and it can lift 1t at end of 26m jib. The crane can raise the jib to any angle between 0 and 20, and 20 to 40 degrees above horizontal. At 40 degrees, maximum hook height is 37m high. Minimum height under hook is 14m.

Liebherr’s 130 EC-B 6 FR.tronic flat-top crane is one of a total of 14 models in the 30tm to 280tm EC-B series. The FR.tronic subset of this series, available in models up to 160tm capacity, has frequency-controlled motors to continuously vary hoisting, slewing and travelling. In the EC-B series, everything mounts into the confines of the single tower head: slewing gear, ball slewing ring support, switchgear cabinet and operator’s cab. Cranes up to 130tm also carry the hoist gear there. This allows the entire thing to be transported by truck as a complete unit.

The show will be the first opportunity Italians will have to see Liebherr’s new range of telehandlers. There are now four models in the range, including the TL 442-13, with 13m lift height and 4.2t load capacity. All four models are driven by an 84kW (114hp) engine. Like mobile cranes, the lower chord of the telescopic boom has an oval cross-section.
