The new crane was bought for both industrial and refinery applications and for erecting large wind power systems. The latter task is performed primarily by the new SL8HS boom system, which, manufacturer Liebherr said, was designed specifically for the wind power industry.

This system is capable of lifting 100t to more than 115m without the need for a derrick system. To ensure that the new LG 1750 can be used universally, Felbermayr ordered a 49m luffing jib and the derrick system in addition to a heavy 70m main boom.

Important criteria as far as the purchase of a new large crane was concerned were high lifting capacities with high hook heights and large working radii. The new crane also had to be distinguished by short set-up times and economic transport logistics.

The crane superstructure is transported separately on a low loader and, once at the building site, is positioned on the chassis during one lifting operation. A further advantage of the LG 1750 is that its boom and jib system is compatible with the LR 1750 crawler, which also features in the Felbermayr crane fleet.

The Felbermayr Group has 32 offices in 10 countries throughout Europe and a workforce of around 1,150. Its operations centre focuses primarily on transport and lifting technology and on civil engineering. The group’s fleets include more than 1,000 work platforms and 200 mobile cranes.
