Liebherr delivered more than 900 all terrain cranes last year, or 40% of the total of 2,260 ATs sold around the world in 2002.

According to the company’s annual report, published in August, Liebherr’s turnover from mobile cranes fell slightly in 2002 to Euro 906.9m from Euro 919.3m in 2001. Sales of offshore and dockside cranes increased nearly 10%, however, from Euro 239.0m in 2001 to Euro 248.6m in 2002.

Tower crane sales are not given separately but are consolidated with concrete mixing technology equipment. However, the commentary in the report indicates that the tower crane market is slow: ‘The weak market situation in Germany had a lasting influence on turnover.’

Total group turnover was Euro 4,069.0m in 2002, down 1.5% on 2001’s performance.

As well as capturing a 40% share of the new AT market, Liebherr Ehingen also sold 400 used cranes in 2002, most of which had been reconditioned in the factory.
