Like the rest of the Liebherr flat-top range, the crane has quick-release fasteners for jib and counter-jib, the patented LiConnect quick-release jib connector and the electrical plug and socket connectors for the drives and switchgear.

A completely new feature is the pre-installed jib heel section with hoist and trolley gear and integral load hook. Hoist and trolley travel rope are reeved in the factory. The reversing cross member with reeved hoist rope is located at the end of the jib heel section. After assembling the jib for the required working radius, the reversing cross member with the reeved hoist rope is offered up and bolted to two holders on the end of the jib. After completing the electrical connections between the slewing platform and the jib heel section, the 30 EC-B 2.5 is ready for immediate use. All ropes also remain reeved when dismantling, and do not have to be removed.

The central unit of the 30 EC-B 2.5 is the innovative compact head, which accommodates the electrical cabinet, slewing gear, slewing ring with slewing ring support and current collectors. Electrical connections are quickly made with simple plug and socket connectors. The compact head is supplied with the erection platform pre-installed. Servicing of the drives and electrical cabinet can therefore be carried out safely and in comfort.

The dimensions of the shipping units are chosen so that they can be easily transported on a twin-axle truck with a 6m loading surface. A 30 EC-B 2.5 with 30 m working radius, 20 m hook height and complete ballast can be transported to site in only three trips.

The weight of the completely pre-installed compact head with electrical cabinet and EDC slewing gear is 1,390 kg. The factory-fitted jib heel section with integral hoist gear, trolley travel gear and load hook weighs just 1,290 kg.

The 30 EC-B 2.5 can optionally be mounted on the newly designed cruciform base with a size of 3.0 m x 3.0 or 3.8 m x 3.8 m, or on foundation anchors. The undercarriage of the previous 30 LC model can also be used with the 30 ECB 2.5.

The new 30 LC tower system provides a choice of tower sections with lengths of 10 m or 5 m. The maximum free-standing hook height is achieved at 31.1 m. The small cross section of the tower segments of 1.19 m also makes transportation easier.

The small Flat-Top crane offers particular advantages in confined spaces. The small dimensions of the cruciform base and the extremely short counter-jib at 5.85 m contribute to the ability of the 30 EC-B 2.5 to be quickly and safely erected in almost any gap.

As with all Liebherr tower cranes, the drives of the new 30 EC-B 2.5 include the EDC slewing gear whose high standard is expressed in the convenient driving characteristics, the smooth and jerk-free slewing at micro speeds, and in the integral load oscillation damping. A powerful pole-change motor is used for the hoist drive. The drive concept of the 30 EC-B 2.5 is completed by the frequency-controlled trolley gear, which ensures particularly sensitive movements and a high trolley speed.

All the drives for the Flat-Top crane come from the Liebherr Drive Technology Competence Centre in Biberach.
