Liebherr has introduced the Parts Assistant, a mobile application designed to simplify identification and ordering of maintenance and spare parts for its range of deep foundation machines, crawler cranes, and duty cycle cranes, with capacities up to 400t.

The app, now available at no cost to all Liebherr customers worldwide, aims to address long-standing challenges in ensuring timely and accurate parts orders.

The Parts Assistant centres on an AI-based component recognition system.

According to Liebherr, users can identify machine parts through multiple methods, including photo recognition, text searches in over 100 languages, QR code scanning, and direct entry of item numbers.

These identification options are intended to assist even when nameplates are damaged or unreadable.

Identified components can also be cross-referenced with the official Liebherr parts catalogue for added confirmation.

In addition to parts identification, the application provides tools to support maintenance planning and timely ordering of replacement items.

Users can review a list of required service kits and parts based on their machines’ operating hours and forthcoming maintenance intervals.

The app generates an optimised list of necessary parts, materials, and fluids for upcoming services, which can be adjusted to meet site-specific requirements before submitting orders.

A further feature is an “expert check” function, which allows users to request professional verification of a part’s identity from a Liebherr service partner.

These requests are managed via a dedicated service ticket system, enabling users to seek confirmation without interrupting ongoing maintenance work.

Feedback from the app’s trial phase indicated that users experienced reductions in ordering errors and time spent preparing maintenance activities.

Participants also reported increased transparency across machine fleets regarding required maintenance parts.

Liebherr product manager Florian Markert said: “Parts Assistant represents a next level of work simplification for our customers. By simplifying and accelerating parts identification directly on the machine we are helping maintenance teams to focus on the machine maintenance itself rather than the administration.

“We are continuously expanding its functionality and scope, based on operational requirements and technological progress.”

The app is available globally through the App Store for iOS devices and Google Play for Android, and can be accessed by customers with a valid MyLiebherr business account.
