Stahlbau Lang partner Peter Käse said the company had taken the decision to buy a used crane directly from the manufacturer as it overcame many of the risks traditionally associated with buying a used crane.
“Purchasing a used crane is not without risks,” said Käse. “That’s why we decided to buy direct from Liebherr.
“This means we have the security of the skill and competence of the manufacturer to rely on, with their own repair centre. It also means that we have an inspection carried out by Liebherr at the same time, and arrangements made for the issue of TÜV and UVV technical approvals.”
Käse added buying directly from Liebherr guaranteed Stahlbau Lang a good quality after-sales service, as well as the availability of spare parts. Additionally, Stahlbau Lang was able to purchase a used crane already painted in its company colours, meaning it only had to add its logo to the machine.
Stahlbau Lang’s recently purchased used LTM 1030-2 has replaced its existing LT 1030 mobile crane, which it bought new 30 years ago. It has sold the LT 1030 on to a company in North Africa, where it will continue to work.
