Demonstrating how gantries can get into tight spaces that cranes usually cannot, rigging contractor Morof used a hydraulic lifting gantry to raise one of the oldest buildings in the German town of Calw, which is in the Black Forest, near Stuttgart. This historic building, built in 1640, was used by leather tradesmen. Morof was brought in to lift the building, which weighs 110t, to the same level as the building to the right of it in the picture. That building, now a restaurant, is also historic, dating back to 1523. The hydraulic gantry is a J&R Series 900 Lift-n-Lock which has octagonal cylinders and a capacity of 900,000lb (408t).
