LCR Lindores was established in 1985 by brothers Peter, Greg and Edward Lindores. The company started out by providing tower cranes, mobile cranes, heavy haulage and lift engineering, and expanded into mining services in 2005. In the same year it appointed former Brambles manager Col Partington as CEO.

In a press release to announce the deal, issued on September 1, Champ Private Equity said that LCR Lindores had achieved annual revenues of AUD120m (GBP57m; USD102m), predominantly through services to the mining industry in the Bowen Basin area of Queensland, and crane and transport services across Australia. LCR Lindores employs more than 300 staff. It has facilities in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast, and the Bowen Basin.

The financial terms of the deal have not been announced. The new owners are Champ Private Equity’s Champ II funds and the existing senior management team. The deal is the second by Champ’s Queensland office, after the acquisition of mining and infrastructure specialists Golding Contractors in March 2008.
