Link-Belt’s continuing programme of upgrading its crawler cranes has now reached the LS-308H II model.
The revision changes the 100t (110 US ton) heavy duty model into the 308H5, denoting that it is part of the manufacturer’s HYLAB 5 series. HYLAB is Link-Belt branding for its hydraulic lattice boom cranes.
The most noticeable difference with the series 5 upgrades is the operator’s cab, which is now 150mm (six inches) wider, giving room for new single axis controllers with adjustable left-hand swing control and a sliding right hand console.
Like the other upgrades, the 308H5 which is the heavy duty version of the 218H5 lift crane has the Sumitomo/Link-Belt SML-10 load moment system (CT Nov03, p25). The 308H5 carries the same attachment and lift capacities as the original 308H models but a new engine has been used, the Mitsubishi 6D24-TLA2E.
