Truck loader cranes were much in evidence at the UK’s Commercial Vehicle Show held in Birmingham late March with seven crane manufacturers exhibiting. Palfinger, Fassi, Atlas, Hiab, HMF, PM and Cormach were all represented at the show.
Palfinger distributor TH White showed the new 9.5tm model, the PK 9501, mounted on a ready-for-delivery chassis, as well as a new PK 7501, a PK 8080 a PK 19000 and a PC 2300.
The PK 9501 and 7501 each have five hydraulic extensions and use return oil on the support and arm cylinder for faster extending. According to Palfinger the two cranes “offer the biggest hydraulic outreaches in their respective classes”.
New from Fassi at the show was the 18.9tm F210A, designed to optimise power to weight ratio on mid-range trucks in the 15t to 20t GVW range. Maximum rated capacity is 9,370kg and maximum outreach is 21m. It is the smallest crane in Fassi’s range that can have the XP, or extra power, function which allows lifting speed to be slowed to enhance capacity. This was just one of 12 Fassi models on show, ranging from Micro loaders to the 90tm F900XP.
Atlas gave a first showing to its 95.1, a grab loader demonstrated on a mock jobsite set up by Atlas with contractor McNicholas and rental specialist TLS.
Atlas general sales manager Steve Francis said of the new 9.5tm unit: “The 95.1 features a twin circuit, twin pump system, providing faster operation, and a heavy duty linkage system improves capacity and hook approach.” Partek Cargotec had its European demonstrator vehicle, fitted with six Hiab loader cranes: the 052, 085E, 095, 102, 220C and 400E. New from Hiab was the 085L on a Volvo FL6 chassis, aimed at builders’ merchants with its long inner boom and oil-filled base.
HMF’s display included models from its newly upgraded mid range, which comprises seven cranes from 14tm to 21tm. New features include regeneration of oil on extension cylinders and stand-up controls which fold away when not in use.
