The crane is based to a large extent on the LTM 11200.9-1 mobile crane (a feature on which is included in the April edition of Cranes Today), taking elements such as a 100m telescopic boom. It will be mounted on a crawler base similar to the LR 1400/2-W, Liebherr’s narrow track wind farm crawler. This will mean it can move around the job site on a 4.8m wide crawler base. While lifting, it will be stabilised by a star-shaped set of 13m outriggers.

Other elements adopted from the LTM 11200, which has already proved itself useful during the installation of wind parks, to the LTR 11200 include the slewing platform, the boom systems with Y-suspension and the fixed and luffing lattice fly jibs.

Dr Willi Liebherr, family shareholder, said wind power is the main market for the LTR 11200 during his speech at the event. A number of Liebherr’s customers involved in the erection of wind power plants were present at the launch.
