Danish rental company Hertz Materieludlejning has purchased five Maeda mini-crawler cranes from the Japanese manufacturer’s European distributor Kato Cranes (UK).

Two LC 755s, two MC 305s and an MC 104 are now operating in Denmark. These are the three models that Maeda markets in Europe and have lifting capacities ranging from 1t to 5t. These crawler-mounted cranes offer maximum lifting heights ranging from 5.5m to 16.3m. The smallest unit is just 600mm wide, 1.3m high (when folded) and less than 2m long.

Hertz Materieludlejning managing director Torben Enøe Rasmussen said: ‘These cranes are of huge interest to us by giving us the opportunity to develop a new niche in the market. We are totally convinced that this is a market with considerable potential.’ He added: ‘With this new range of products we are present on the site at an earlier stage, which gives us a head start over the competition when i comes to renting other machines in our product range.’ Kato Cranes (UK) hopes that the sale will lead to further orders from Hertz for its other depots.
