Ainscough Crane Hire, Samuel Walker & Sons and Sparrow Crane Hire/Alatas have joined Terex Demag and Liebherr Nenzing as sponsors of Crane Safety 2003, being held in London in June. Peter Oram, chairman of the European crane standards committee CEN TC147, will give the welcoming address.

Ainscough is the UK’s largest mobile crane hire company, a position claimed by the bold acquisition in recent years of the fleets of GWS and Baldwins.

Samuel Walker is not only Grove’s authorised service agent but is also the service agent to PAT, the manufacturer of operator assistance devices. Samuel Walker acquired the exclusive rights to PAT’s retrofit sales, replacement parts and the service activities in December 2002.

Sparrow is one of the biggest names of the UK crane industry and its sister company Alatas is a leading provider of crane services and spare parts.

Crane Safety 2003 comprises two separate conferences: Mobile Crane Safety on Monday 16 June, and Tower Crane Safety on Tuesday 17 June. The venue is the Tower Thistle Hotel, right by the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. A site visit to the construction site of London Heathrow Airport’s Terminal Five project is being held on Wednesday 18 June as part of the conference package, courtesy of Select Tower Crane, which runs the UK’s largest fleet of tower cranes.

The conference is being organised by Cranes Today. Editor Phil Bishop commented: ‘We are very grateful for the support that the industry is giving to this event, and also very encouraged. It looks like being quite an event. We have arranged a top line-up speakers from around the world, and now we also have Ainscough, Samuel Walker and Sparrow on board, as well as the previously announced backing of Terex Demag, Liebherr and Select.’
