An Italian special transport venture has been set up by Mammoet of the Netherlands and Palumbo of Italy. It is 50% owned by each company.

Mammoet-Palumbo offers the Italian and Mediterranean markets transportation of industrial products of exceptional dimensions and weights using company-owned self-propelled modular trailers (SPMTs).

Palumbo S.p.a. has for 30 years specialised in transport for big oil and gas plants. The registered office of the new company, whose managing directors are Alberto Galbiati and Carlo Venusino, is in Livorno, Italy. The operative and commercial headquarters are in Milan.

Mammoet-Palumbo said that SPMTs ‘represent the most evolved concept of special transportation available today. With a high load capacity (30t per axle), in 4 or 6-axle modules which can be disposed in the most varied longitudinal and lateral combinations, SPMT offer a practically limitless load potential’.
