Mammoet Irga Do Brasil has commissioned 10 new cranes ranging from 200t to 600t in size to arrive in Brazil by January 2011, and will also purchase a 700t capacity model in 2010 according to joint director Lupércio Torres Neto. This will build on its existing fleet of 10 cranes, and meet new market demands.
The joint venture was launched in 2001, and has worked on five major projects. Ton Bakker, fellow joint director of Mammoet Irga Do Brasil, said the joint venture has brought many synergies to both firms.
“When one of the two companies signs a new contract, automatically the other is included in the project. New basins of oil and the 2014 World Cup in Brazil will make good demand.”
Neto added: “Irga has the telescopic cranes; Mammoet-Irga has the cranes on mats of up to 700t; and, above that size, we use the machines of Mammoet.”
Irga Group was featured in the In Our Fleet section of the December 2008 edition of Cranes Today.
