The carefully planned job on the live site required the partial deconstruction of a nearby building, to make room for fitting the boom, before walking the crane with load and 1800t counterweight into place. When lowering the vessel through the roof there was less than 155mm of clearance. The crane performed at 98% of capacity during the sequence.
With this installation, the production facilities of the mine, which officially opened in May 2017, were completed. Mammoet has also undertaken all the major heavy lift operations during the main construction program.
