Austrian lifting and handling equipment group Palfinger has sold off its Palfinger Marine business to the division’s management.
Palfinger Marine is now trading as Crane Power International. It specialises in cranes for North Sea trawlers, pipe handlers, and the lifting and positioning systems used in offshore oil exploration projects.
The business is located on the island of Ugljan, opposite Zadar, Croatia, and has about 40 employees.
Getting out of the marine crane business was described by Palfinger as “in line with the group strategy of concentrating on high value-added, high-tech processes with strong growth potential.” Palfinger Marine’s external sales were E7.3m in 2000, and over the years it had generally broken even.
