The company said the orders are evidence of the success of a “niche strategy” that has allowed it to win new business in its target markets.
Manitex also announced a USD2m order for its Liftking military container handling forklifts from a US government agency. In February, it announced USD6.6m of new orders for 2009, including boom truck cranes destined for the Middle East, specialised transporters for shipyard applications and specialised material handling equipment for use by the international military.
Manitex expects to ship the latest orders by the end of 2009.
“Manitex has a unique, diverse and high quality product portfolio, consisting of specialised products that deliver a healthy return on investment and cash flow for its customers,” said Andrew Rooke, president and chief operating officer.
“Our niche strategy and focus has positioned us well to win new business in our target markets. Liftking has a positive history with military orders, and the recent increase in the military orders we have received is particularly encouraging.”
