Manitex Canadian distributors North West Crane and Cropac have ordered boom trucks worth $5m. The bulk of the order is targeted at supporting the energy sector.

Manitex said the orders are at the higher end of its capacity range, consisting predominantly of 45USt and 50USt cranes, many of which are fitted with the company’s new 155ft boom.

North West Cranes’ order will be the largest Manitex has delivered to Canada in the past two years. The orders are scheduled for the second half of 2010.

Manitex Inc. director of sales and marketing Randy Robertson said, “More than half of these orders already have retail customers assigned to them. This is a testament to North West Crane’s attention to the pulse of this market and their strength in serving it. Additionally, Cropac continues its major presence in this market and has stock equipment available for the still strong markets in eastern Canada.”

Scott Rolston, SVP of sales and marketing, Manitex International, “We are optimistic these recent orders signal the start of a continued upturn in western Canada, and show continued strength in the eastern Canada market. “
