The company’s donation, which was made on behalf of its 12,000 global employees, includes contributions from its crane and foodservice segments, as well as its corporate office.
“The Haitian earthquake was a natural disaster of unprecedented proportions,” said Glen Tellock, Manitowoc’s chairman and chief executive officer. “Our hope is that our donation will assist the Red Cross in addressing the overwhelming need for medical care, food and shelter for the people of Haiti.
“While the short-term needs of Haiti are critical, the need to rebuild its cities and infrastructure are equally important. Toward that end, Manitowoc cranes are currently participating in recovery operations in Port-au-Prince and other cities of this island nation.”
