In the wake of ConExpo, the triannual trade show held from March 22-26 in Las Vegas, Manitowoc announced that it had sold four cranes to US hire companies for use across wind power, urban construction and chemical industries.

Some of the cranes went to members of Manitowoc’s preproduction program, Central Crane rentals and Amquip.

All Erection, based in Ohio and operating nationally, bought the 400t 16000 crawler crane that was on display at Conexpo.

The crane was purchased with a wind attachment, and was shipped from ConExpo to a windfarm, where it is intended for installing 2.5MW turbines on 80m towers.

All Erection’s subsidiary Central Cranes took a Grove GMK6300L, which has just graduated from Manitowoc's pre-production partnership testing programme. Central Cranes offers a crane regional rental service to the Great Lakes area.

Amquip bought a 450t Grove GMK6400 all-terrain crane, the largest six-axle all terrain crane in the world according to the manufacturer, for use in urban lifts. Its features include a Mega Wing Lift capacity enhancement attachment and Mega Drive hydrostatic drive system.

Manitowoc has also announced that its dealer H&E Equipment in Houston, Texas sold the newest Grove rough terrain crane, the RT9150. Groves Equipment rental company, based in Texas, bought the RT9150 for rental to a chemical company. The buyer said it chose the RT9150 for its 197ft main boom length, which gives it a high reach.Manitowoc announces ConExpo highlights
