Just months after bringing West-Manitowoc’s product line into the fold of Manitowoc Cranes, the West brand has been totally dropped by Manitowoc. Initially, it was announced that the 111 and 222 would be known as “the West series, a product extension of Manitowoc Cranes”.
But sales & marketing vice-president Larry Weyers announced on 7 June: “The West name is now defunct.” The West product line is now to be called the Manitowoc Model 111 and Manitowoc Model 222. “West is no longer part of their name,” Weyers said.
These two models are now fitted with Manitowoc’s Epic controls and operator’s cab. A retrofit package is available to those who bought earlier models, but service support will still be available for those with West versions.
