Bangkok-based SB Siam will offer cranes from across the Potain range supplied from Manitowoc’s Chinese factory in Zhangjiagang, with some being shipped from India and Europe.
It will also act as a dealer for Manitowoc Crane Care, offering parts, service and technical data.
Somsak Bunchorntavakul set up SB Siam in 2005 after he left the construction equipment division of Teo Hong Silom Co Ltd, the former dealer for Potain in Thailand.
“I have been in the tower crane business for 20 years, and I know Potain tower cranes have the best name in the industry,” said Bunchorntavakul. “They are very popular with local contractors because of their excellent reliability and the strong customer service provided through Manitowoc Crane Care.”
Victor Chan, Manitowoc’s sales director for tower cranes in Asia (outside China), said: “We made this appointment because of SB Siam’s proven relationship with Manitowoc and our Potain brand.
“I have every confidence that the appointment of SB Siam will increase our market share for tower cranes in Thailand.”
