Dutch company Mick Volendam Groep has used Manitowoc’s four-axle Grove all-terrain crane for installing a prefab housing extension in Alkmaar.
Utilising its Grove GMK4100L-2 crane, the company managed to execute the project swiftly, providing an important new living space for a local homeowner.
This task required the 5.3t prefab unit to be carefully lifted over the existing structure. Johan Jonk, an experienced crane operator, handled the operation using 9.2t of counterweight and a 45.8m boom, completing the lift at an 18m radius.
The crane’s advanced Crane Control System (CCS), along with Jonk’s expertise, ensured the process was smooth and caused no disturbance to the area’s residents.
The Grove GMK4100L-2 crane, designed for a capacity of 100t, offers manoeuvrability suited to tight urban job sites. It features a 60m TWIN-LOCK MEGAFORM main boom and MEGATRAK independent suspension, enhancing its operational versatility.

“Completing the entire transport and installation in a single day required absolute reliability and precision, and the crane performed perfectly, allowing us to complete the project for the homeowner with minimal impact on the neighbours.”
