Manitowoc Crane Group facility in Jebel Ali, Dubai

The new 1400 m2 facility in the Jebel Ali Free Zone area of Dubai houses sales offices, a workshop, parts warehouse and also a training center.

David Semple, Manitowoc Crane Group Middle East sales director and general manager, said the new building is a sign of the company’s commitment in the region.

“The operations here have quickly evolved from several ‘one-man’ outfits to a central office with over 30 employees,” he said. “By combining these resources we are able to more effectively and efficiently serve our customers throughout the region.”

The Middle East office will cover 20 countries including the Gulf region, the Arab Near East, Turkey and most central Asian republics. Having a one centrally located Middle Eastern office gives MCG the ability and flexibility to tailor a wide range of cranes to local requirements.

“MCG is a global company with a strong commitment to local presence,” said Philippe Cohet, Manitowoc Crane Group’s executive vice president of the EMEA region.

“We are consolidating our position to increase resources available to customers. I believe our growth puts us in a position of strength to tackle increasing demand and lead the way in this market.”

Manitowoc Crane Group also hopes to expand its crawler crane business in the Middle East and will run a crawler refurbishment program from the facility. This is part of a longer term strategy to establish a Manitowoc crawler crane ‘center of excellence’ for its EnCORE program. EnCORE is a program that gives dealers or customers the most effective crane service. That could be through the supply of new parts, or a remanufactured, repaired or rebuilt part for an existing crane.

“The EnCORE program enables customers to extend the lifecycles of their older machines,” says Mike Bage, Manitowoc Crane CARE manager in the Middle East. “Our objective is to remember all customers, and treat every request with similar importance. There are some customers or markets that just don’t have the financial strength to invest in new machines, so used or refurbished cranes will always be a requirement.”
