Manitex said the Middle East orders are a follow-on from an order volume that was announced in February, and extends its presence in the area with more products in more markets.
“There is an abundance of opportunities for us to introduce additional Manitex products into the region, as our products have proven they meet the rigorous demands of a variety of end-market applications in that part of the world,” said Scott Rolston, senior vice president of sales and marketing.
The February 2009 orders were valued at USD6.6m and included boom truck cranes for the Middle East, specialised transporters for shipyard applications and specialised material handling equipment for use by the international military.
The new orders are valued at USD3.1m and again include boom truck cranes headed to the Middle East, specialised forklifts to a customer in Africa and a new order under a previously announced three-year contract with an international agency.
