Haifa Port accounts for nearly two thirds of Israel’s container handling volume, and is one of the country’s most important ports.

The cranes will now be equipped with the HPC LD2 high performance controller and TDE400 crane management system.

The HPC LD2 enables crane operators to effectively execute all crane control commands, said Converteam, with the TDE400 system offering “powerful visualisation functionality” for the control of all the operating conditions of the cranes.

Only the bus interfaces are to be replaced as part of the retrofit, with most drive systems and I/O components, where the spare-part situation remains non-critical, left in place. Converteam said this will reduce the downtime for each crane to an average of two weeks.
