Grove Worldwide laid off another 140 employees from its Shady Grove plant on 9 October. This was in addition to the 260 jobs that were axed in September.
The latest cuts follow Grove’s decision to further reduce its Manlift product line and make Manlift a subsidiary of the Grove Industrial Products Group.
Grove Industrial Products is headed by Ernest Palango, who reports to senior vice president, sales and marketing, Dave Birkhauser. Therefore the latest casualties include Manlift president Joseph Danules.
Manlift has already stopped producing scissor lifts, having entered a marketing agreement with scissor lift manufacturer Skyjack. Now Manlift will concentrate its efforts only on larger articulating lifts, said Grove chief executive officer Jeff Bust.
