Grove Worldwide laid off another 140 employees from its Shady Grove plant on 9 October. This follows the culling of 260 employees in September.

The latest job cuts follow Grove’s decision to further rationalise its Manlift product line and consolidate it into the Grove Industrial Products Group. This group is headed by Ernest Palango, who reports to senior vice president, sales and marketing, Dave Birkhauser. Therefore the latest casualties include Manlift president Joseph Danules.

Manlift has already stopped producing scissor lifts, having entered a marketing agreement with scissor lift specialist Skyjack. Now Manlift will concentrate only on larger articulating lifts, said Grove CEO Jeff Bust.
