MacGregor’s crane division has been awarded a contract worth in excess of US$30 million to deliver heavy lift cargo cranes to eight ships being built by Shandong Huanghai Shipbuilding in China.

The 28,000t deadweight general cargo ships, ordered by Cosco’s Guangzhou branch, will each be equipped with two GLH 20020/17523/16025/12030/8033-2 cranes and one GL4530/4035-2 unit.

The cranes will have MacGregor’s standard heavy lift design comprising double control systems (CC2000) for redundancy, as well as an auxiliary hoist for container handling.

Deliveries are planned to start in October 2009 and will continue until late 2010.

They will be manufactured by MacGregor’s long-term manufacturing partner Nanjing Lüzhou Machine Works in China. Lüzhou has been a MacGregor manufacturing partner since 1987 and has extensive experience with the full MacGregor range of cargo cranes.
