Jansen said, “Three years ago BMS was 100% owned by MT Hojgaard, a large Danish contractor. Prior to that, it was owned by various contractors; as these merged, MT Hojgaard became the sole owner.

“In 2004, BMS made a deal to buy Kran Ringen and merge it with BMS. As part of the deal, the owner of Kran Ringen purchased half of the shares in BMS from MT Hojgaard.

“Now, MT Hojgaard have done what all the big contractors have done, and sold their crane business to concentrate on construction. This has been a trend in Scandinavian contracting for several years: NCC in Denmark similarly owned Altami, and then sold it to Ramirent, and Skanska Denmark have done the same recently with their tower crane business.

“The owners of BMS today, Enggard, have a long, long, history in the crane industry, going back almost 50 years. They’re also engaged in other crane companies, such as KR Wind, where they own 50% along with Mammoet. They also have an interest in a Norwegian crane business.

“I’ll be staying with BMS, and the business will continue as before.”
