Contractor Multiplex is approaching completion of the US$37m Alfred Medical Research & Educational Precinct in Melbourne, Australia. Multiplex has been using the first Potain MD 285A in the country, on hire from Sutville, Potain’s distributor since 1998. The 300tm MD 285A lifts 3.1t at the end of its 65m jib. It was erected here to 52m height, though this model is capable of reaching 69.8m. This crane remains the only model of its kind in Australia, though this month Sutville takes delivery of an MD 365B for the National Art Gallery project in Melbourne. The 310t class MD 365B, launched at Bauma this year, lifts 3.65t at 75m jib end
