Munck Group has acquired two thirds of the shares of the Dreggen Companies. The move represents a major consolidation of Norway’s crane manufacturing industry.
Munck has bought 66% of Dreggen Crane and 63% of Dreggen A/S and Dreggen Engineering A/S. The Gullestad family maintains the remaining shares in Dreggen and Tormod Gullestad will continue as manager of the Dreggen Companies.
The companies will have their main offices in Bergen, Norway and have 185 employees. Turnover in 2001 is expected to be NOK230m ($25m).
Munck said that the addition of Dreggen’s offshore and shipboard cranes would complement its own range of industrial cranes and would ‘result in an improvement of the overall competitiveness, turnover and cost saving and will also become a basis for further national and international development and growth.‘ Sverre Arnesen, managing director of Munck, said the main objective was to consolidate Munck’s position in the Norwegian market and expand internationally.
