The association began certifying mobile crane operators in 1996, and expanded the programme to tower crane operators in 2004, and overhead crane operators in 2005. Later in 2008, it will begin certification for signalpeople and riggers.
Loader cranes are most often used to raise and lower loads carried on the back of a truck.
Brent, a former editor of Cranes Today, also announced that NCCCO is currently in discussion with a state agency to develop written exams for crane inspectors, also known as certifiers.
