Conventional bleeping vehicle reversing warning alarms can sometimes be difficult to distinguish from background noise. A new Brigade safety system addresses the problems of location and noise pollution. It uses broadband or ‘white sound’ for a directional, non-strident sound that Brigade claims is as effective as other alarms that are 5dB(A) louder. People can better determine the direction from where the alarm sound is coming which is particularly important in busy areas with many vehicles.
The BBS-Tek Backalarm can be used in applications from construction sites through distribution centres to the high street. Three models are available, for heavy, medium and light duty applications, from 82dB(A) to 107dB(A).
Also new is Backscan, a safety detection system to sense and warn a driver of obstacles in the path of his or her reversing vehicle. A three stage warning buzzer informs the driver of the distance to an obstacle. Some models also have an LED display and digital readout. The BS-430KX is a heavy duty model to withstand steam cleaning, pressure washing, oil, dirt and vibration. It has four wide-angle sensors and audio-visual warning with indication for each sensor to determine where the obstacle is.
