Joel Dandera has taken over from Gene Brymer as executive vice president of the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association – ahead of schedule and without fanfare.

Dandera joined the SC&RA in September 2000 from the policy division of the American Trucking Association as Brymer’s heir apparent. It had previously been announced that Brymer would retire next year, with Dandera succeeding him at the annual conference in May.

The post of executive vice president is the organisation’s top staff position, effectively chief executive.

Brymer had been with the SC&RA since 1979 and had overseen a doubling in size of the association. ‘Gene Brymer has done a great job with the association over the years but we understand his need to move on,’ said SC&RA president Gary Lorenz.
