Caterpillar has introduced its new C-9 electronic diesel engine for industrial applications. The 205kW to 250kW-rated unit has the ADEM (Advanced Diesel Engine Management) III electronic control system. Also used is the HEUI-B (Hydraulically actuated, Electronically controlled Unit Injector) fuel system. Compliance with EPA tier 2 and EU Stage II emission standards is claimed.

According to Caterpillar, it only needs an oil change every 500 hours. and the cast iron block is designed for durability and to extend engine life.

Production started in January this year for engines rated above 205kW and production of all models will start in November.
