The cranes join the recently-launched GMK5250L and incorporate several of its features and benefits, including a Viab turbo retarder clutch which eliminates fluid overheating and clutch burning, enables wear-free starting and braking, and reduces fuel consumption. The models have a single engine, a Tier IV Final/Euromot 4 Mercedes-Benz OM471LA six-cylinder diesel engine, driving the carrier and powering the superstructure.

The main boom of the cranes is 64m long, and can be extended with two 8m inserts and 18m swing-away jib with 40º offset.

The GMK5250L, GMK5180-1 and GMK5200-1 all offer a variety of axle load configurations, to allow the cranes to meet the road requirements of different markets. They can be moved on the job site with full counterweight, saving downtime on installing and removing sections, and use counterweight slabs that are interchangeable with other Grove models.

Also included is the Crane Control System, a user-friendly interface being introduced by Manitowoc on its new all terrains, crawlers, rough terrains, truck cranes and tower cranes.
